Ramaphosa faces new battles as head of S.Africa's ANC
South African deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa faced wide-ranging challenges Tuesday after being elected to lead the country's ruling party as it grapples with corruption allegations and disunity. Thousands of raucous Ramaphosa supporters sang and chanted in the conference hall as rival backers of defeated candidate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma appeared dejected. "Many doom-sayers had said that this conference was going to collapse," Ramaphosa told journalists on Tuesday, describing the party as "renewed and stronger" than it was before the conference.
