Ex-Yankees updates: Chris Sale hypes Garrett Whitlock; David Robertson looks sharp

The Red Sox selected Whitlock from the Yankees in December’s Rule 5 Draft. At the time, the 25-year-old was recovering from Tommy John surgery and had never pitched above Double-A. He’s been a revelation for the Red Sox, with a 1.86 ERA in 41 appearances this season. Whitlock and the Red Sox trail the Yankees by a half-game in the American League wild-card race.
