Report: Red Sox pursued Matt Carpenter, who signed with Yankees and has 6 homers in first 10 games

Before Matt Carpenter became a homer-a-day contributor for the Yankees, the Red Sox reportedly made an attempt to sign him. Boston reached out to Carpenter before he signed with the Yankees in May, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, who adds that the Braves were also interested in the veteran infielder after he was released from his minor league deal with Texas.
