From shortstop, Red Sox ace Chris Sale's fastball 'looked way harder'
Chris Sale threw 60 four-seam fastballs vs. the Padres on Saturday, averaging 95.4 mph and topping out at 97.6 mph, per Baseball Savant. Shortstop Kiké Hernández kept looking back at the radar gun after seeing some 94 mph readings. “Because the pitches looked way harder than that,” Hernández said. Sale pitched 7 innings to lead the Red Sox 4-2 over the Padres at Petco Park.
