Red Sox prospect up to 97 mph, allows just 1 hit in return from Tommy John
Red Sox prospect Bradley Blalock made his first start Wednesday since undergoing Tommy John surgery 14 months ago. The 22-year-old righty allowed just one run, one hit and one walk while striking out three in 4 innings in Low-A Salem's 7-2 loss to Fredericksburg. The Red Sox selected Blalock in the 32nd round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Grayson High in Loganville, Ga., then signed him to a $250,000 bonus. Baseball America wrote back then, “Among Red Sox pitchers who showed up in instructional league, none showed more dramatic improvements in stuff.”
