Red Sox prospect Grant Gambrell missed the entire 2022 season after undergoing five surgeries to remove a benign tumor from his calcaneus, the heel bone. The 25-year-old righty — one of five players Boston acquired in the three-team Andrew Benintendi trade — is back this season, healthy and pitching well. “I'm just grateful to even be out here because a couple years ago, it was a pretty dark time,” Gambrell said during a phone interview with MassLive on Thursday. Gambrell is a somewhat different pitcher than he was two years ago.
