Red Sox prospect up to 97 mph after surgery has new 'Gausman split-change'

Red Sox prospect Bradley Blalock sat around 92-93 mph with his fastball before undergoing Tommy John surgery March 2, 2022. He has mostly been in the 94-95 mph range since returning from surgery and he has topped out at 97 mph in each of his three starts. “My velo has definitely jumped about 1 to 2 mph,” Blalock said. The 22-year-old's rehab took only 14 months. He returned to the Low-A Salem starting rotation May 24 against Fredericksburg, tossing 4 innings and allowing one run, one hit and one walk while striking out three . In three starts, he has a 1.38 ERA (two runs, 13 innings) and 0.77 WHIP. He has given up seven hits and three walks while striking out 16. Opponents are batting .167 against
