Red Sox rolling, Yankees reeling as Boston pursues series sweep

For two straight games, the Boston Red Sox jumped on the New York Yankees early, took their longtime rival out of the game and continued to stay firmly in the postseason race. Now, the Red Sox will go for a sweep of the three-game series Sunday afternoon when they visit the scuffling Yankees, whowill try to stop a seven-game losing streak that has seen them fall eight games out of the final wild-card spot in the American League. Boston has won the past six meetings this season by outscoring the Yankees 44-14. In the first two games of this weekend series, the Red Sox produced 12 hits in each, outscored New York 16-4 and held big leads after the second inning in each game.
