Red Sox rookie 'by no means' deserved first promotion but he took advantage

Red Sox lefty Chris Murphy received his first big league promotion June 6 despite struggling during the first two months with Triple-A Worcester. “What I've learned is just take advantage of the opportunity at hand,” Murphy told MassLive last Sunday at Fenway. In the back of my head, I always knew I'd pitch well in the big leagues just confidence-wise. Murphy has taken advantage of his opportunity after receiving his initial promotion in part because of injuries to the pitching staff and the need for a fresh arm because of a taxed bullpen.
